Would you like to see the starry sky? Would you venture out even when it's dark? Welcome to a flashlight adventure to the wonders of the starry sky!
*The signposts for the Uutela Star Trail were removed from the area at the end of January 2021, but you can still explore the Star Trail using a virtual map and guides. The link to the map and guides can be found in this article.

Uutela Star Trail is a self-guided reflector trail in Uutela, Vuosaari, featuring Ursa constellation stations. Bring a flashlight and venture boldly into the dark forest. Reflectors attached to the trail as well as* a mobile map will guide you to Ursa ry's constellation stations and the wonders of the starry sky. The one-kilometer Uutela Star Trail starts from a forest path next to Café Kampela and ends at the Niemenaoja cooking shelter (round trip is 2 km).

We recommend installing the free Google Earth app on your phone, which allows you to follow the route using a three-dimensional map. The Uutela Star Trail map is also available in Google Maps.

Pack these items for the self-guided Uutela Star Trail:
- a flashlight or headlamp
- warm clothing
- snacks and a sitting mat
- adventurous spirit and courage
Uutela Star Trail is suitable for the whole family. During snow-free seasons, you can also use a stroller on the route. The Star Trail is walked at your own risk - the Uutela shore trail is not maintained in winter and the path may be icy.
The round trip distance is approximately 2 km.
In accordance with coronavirus guidelines, no events are organized on the trail and social distancing is maintained even outdoors. We ask you to pay special attention to time spent at the fireplace and recommend snacks that don't require heating at a campfire.
Implementation of the Star Trail
The Uutela Star Trail is implemented by Nature Moments Blog founder Mira Lainiola and Tuukka Perhoniemi (Ursa ry) and illustrators Juhani Anttila and Maria Ilvonen. You can read more about the star figure characters' adventures in the book "Pop and Little Bear's Space Journey".
The implementation of the Star Trail has been made possible by volunteer Helsinki residents who regularly maintain the trail. The Star Trail is in the area until the end of January and has a permit granted by the City of Helsinki.
Participating in the Uutela Star Trail adventure atmosphere are Café Kampela and Helsinki for the Little Ones! Pack snacks from Kampela (open 10 am – 6 pm) and stay on the trail by following the Star Trail mobile route from Helsinki for the Little Ones.
