New Year's fireworks and pyro and light show events
Where can you see New Year's fireworks in Helsinki and the capital region? Where can you experience the turn of the year pyro and light show displays? Public fireworks displays, children's fireworks, and light art events are organized on New Year's Eve, Sunday 31.12.2023, at least in the following places:
- Helsinki: Pyro show for children at Kansalaistori on New Year's Eve at 6 p.m.*
Children's New Year at Kansalaistori on Sunday at 5:30-6 p.m. The program includes Skidit disco. - Helsinki: Fireworks at Tukkutori in Helsinki (address: Vanha talvitie 18) on New Year's Eve Sunday at 6 p.m. The fireworks are provided by VP-Vihannespörssi near its premises.
- Kerava: Kerava 100 fireworks at Keravan Aurinkomäki at 6 p.m.
- Sipoo: Family fireworks at Sipoo Nikkilä Jokilaakso at 6 p.m.
- Porvoo: Porvoo New Year at Kokonniemi event park on Sunday at 6-8 p.m. The program also includes a pyro show.*
- Espoo: Water-light show: The Secret Door*
Espoo's New Year celebration at Tapiola center features a water-light show inspired by Las Vegas fountains, presented three times during the evening. Show times on New Year's Eve at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Espoo's New Year event is held this year at Tapiola center between Espoo Cultural Center, Tapionpuisto, and Kauppakeskus AINOA. - Riihimäki: New Year's fireworks at Riihimäki Keskuskentä, Sports Park on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
Also remember: Riihimäki Hehkuu light event 15.12.2023–7.1.2024. - New Year's fireworks in Nummela at 7 p.m.
- Helsinki: Helsinki's New Year pyro show near Kansalaistori at midnight.*
Helsinki's New Year celebration at Kansalaistori on Sunday from 10 p.m. to midnight. Featuring performances by Käärijä among others. Free admission.
*Events marked with * are not traditional fireworks but pyro or light events for New Year's celebrations.
Weather conditions may prevent fireworks from being held, so you should always check the latest event information from the organizer's website.
Unofficial fireworks in Helsinki
In many Helsinki districts, unofficial, community-organized fireworks have been held in previous years during early evening and evening. You can find more information in your own district's Facebook groups. For example, in the places listed below, community gatherings and fireworks for families have been organized before around 6-8 p.m.

Lights in the city
- Espoo: Taian Aallot light art around Espoo Cathedral and along the river until 6.1.2024 during twilight. Free admission.

- Espoo: Aurora's wild New Year light creatures - window art visible in Children's Culture Center Aurora's windows 30.12.23-6.1.24 in the evening at 5-10 p.m. Free admission.
- Lux Korkeasaari is held 30.12.2023 – 7.1.2024, when the zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission fee applies.
- Riihimäki Hehkuu light event 15.12.2023–7.1.2024.
- Helsinki's parks, streets, and buildings are illuminated to bring light to the darkness and create a Christmas atmosphere in the city. The illuminated Christmas trees on Keskuskatu, the lights and animal figures in Espa Park, the Christmas lights on Aleksanterinkatu, and numerous Christmas lights and various Christmas decorations in many shopping centers and their surroundings delight both small and large visitors.
