Autumn Break Week 42/2017

ESPOO

Haltia Nature Centre in Nuuksio is a great family destination for rainy days. During autumn break week there's programming for children, such as puppet theater performances and Leevi the Flying Squirrel nature trail. Read more on Haltia's website. Admission fee to the nature centre.

Nuuksio National Park has ready-made trails for all ages and fitness levels. An autumn forest hike in stunning scenery with packed lunches is an experience for the whole family.

Villa Elfvik Nature House has easily accessible nature trails for the whole family in its surroundings. Hiking is also possible with strollers. Read more about Villa Elfvik and the nature trails in the area on the nature house website.

Glims House Museum in Espoo is open during autumn break week from Tuesday to Friday 10–16 and on Sunday 11–16. During the week the museum offers workshops where you can, for example, card wool and do crafts. Read more about Glims programming on the museum’s website. WeeGee and Toy Museum Horseshoe saves rainy days. In the toy museum you can easily spend a few hours with children, and WeeGee’s exhibition center has more to see: Kamu (Espoo City Museum), Emma (Espoo Museum of Modern Art), and the Finnish Clock Museum. All museums are accessible with one ticket. Tickets 12 €, under 18s free. Museum card venue.

Children’s Culture Centre Pikku-Aurora offers autumn break workshops for vacationers Monday to Friday 10-13. Free admission. Read more on Pikku-Aurora’s website.

Sello Hall (Leppävaara) shows autumn break movies on Wednesday: 10am Onneli and Anneli and the Mysterious Stranger and 12pm Moana. Movies are free.

At the Iso Omena Shopping Centre Service Desk programs for vacationers are arranged all week. Workshops and other programs are aimed at children, teenagers and families. Read more about the week’s program from the Iso Omena Service Desk Facebook event. Tip: Iso Omena Shopping Centre has an excellent care room and a large climbing frame for children next to it.

Angry Birds Parks in Oittaa and at Leppävaara Sports Park work well with both younger and older vacationers. Next to the Leppävaara AB Park is a large sports park and, for example, scooter ramps.

Espoo Swimming Halls are open during autumn break as well.

At Espoo Metro Arena you can ice skate during public skating times during autumn break week. Check the week’s available skating times on Metro Arena’s Facebook page.

VANTAA

Aviation Museum offers autumn break programming all week. The program includes Little Pilot's Flying School and crafts. Partially fee-based. Read more about the autumn break program on the Aviation Museum's own website.

Heureka Science Centre in Tikkurila is a rainy day destination in Vantaa. Admission 22 € / 15 €, under 6s free.

KERAVA

LAHTI

Launee Family Park in Lahti is a good outing destination for rain-free days. It's worth noting here that Launee Park is not just a basic playground but much more. There's plenty to do for all ages: there's a play area for the youngest, a play area for children, a traffic town, scooter and skateboard ramps, a wading pool in summer, a mini-golf course (fee-based), and much more. An absolute summer destination, but it works during other seasons too. Restrooms are available on weekends when staff are present.

PORVOO

Moomin Park in Porvoo is a nice destination for younger vacationers.

KIRKKONUMMI

Porkkala Peninsula and Linloon Island (bridge connection to the mainland) outdoor areas are excellent hiking destinations in Kirkkonummi in good weather.

Rehndahl’s Farm in Kirkkonummi offers rural atmosphere and various other activities as well as farm animals, of course. On the premises there’s also a fenced play area, a pirate ship, an obstacle course for hobby horses, and a summer café. Rehndahl’s farm is open year-round. From September to April the farm is open on Saturdays and Sundays 10-14. Winter season admission 5€ (10 € in summer), under 2s free. Family tickets also available.

LOVIISA

Onneli and Anneli Play Park is found at Laivasilta Beach Area and in Loviisa's downtown area.
