Little Helsinki has been awarded the Helsinki Cultural Achievement 2023 award
I had the great honor of receiving the Helsinki Cultural Achievement 2023 award on Friday, January 5, 2023, at Oodi's Maija Hall. This was a great joy for me, for Little Helsinki, and for Helsinki's children's culture. The award was given for the first time in its history to a children's culture operator, and I find this extremely delightful. And best of all, an honorable mention was given to the world's best Skidit collective ![]()
Many thanks to the Culture and Free Time Board's Culture and Library Section and the City of Helsinki for this award. Thanks to those who nominated Little Helsinki for the award, and to all followers of Little Helsinki, and especially to Helsinki's little adventurers. Big thanks also to everyone who believed in the idea and encouraged it along the way. Special thanks to PH's background team: Anton, Edith, and Ingrid.
Children's culture and children won, and that's just wonderful ![]()
"– Little Helsinki is one of the city's most effective marketers and messengers of children's culture. A blog website and social media accounts maintained by one person's energy and limited resources represent grassroots activism and child-friendly implementation at the individual level at its best. They build a bridge between events and communities, helping Helsinki residents participate in cultural services suited to them, notes the chair of the Culture and Library Board, Sirpa Asko-Seljavaara.
Based on comments received from residents, Little Helsinki has significantly increased the accessibility of children's culture and lowered the threshold for families with children to participate in cultural events, as children's culture tips have been found compiled in one place."
