My Museum Friend and I: Exhibition tip to the Newspaper Museum's exhibition Celebrating Reading! Donald Duck magazine in Finland 70 years!

It's very easy to walk past the Newspaper Museum without realizing what a fun museum is behind those large windows! The museum's spring 2021 interactive themed exhibition takes visitors into the world of Donald Duck and reading.

The Newspaper Museum, just a couple of blocks away from Esplanade, brought in its usual manner an interactive exhibition suitable for children in spring, when Donald Duck and friends took over one corner of the museum. Celebrating Reading! Donald Duck magazine in Finland 70 years! exhibition invites adventure to Duckburg, peeks into Bear Cottage, Uncle Scrooge's office, Gyro Gearloose's workshop, and zooms around the nephews' car track.

Bear Cottage naturally also has a secret tunnel.

The exhibition contains something familiar from a couple of years ago: Gyro Gearloose – The Fearless Inventor of the World exhibition and Donald Duck's car seen at Ateneum entertains small museum visitors in this exhibition too. The car presumably had a queue, so a new photo of this fine classic was naturally forgotten.

The exhibition is on display at the Newspaper Museum 23.4.-24.10.2021 and admission to the museum is always free. Like the previous children's themed exhibitions at the Newspaper Museum, this one too is full of delightful colors and fun discoveries. Young museum visitors will surely enjoy exploring through play and adventure, and for those who can read, the exhibition offers a different experience through tasks and information.

Celebrating Reading! exhibition area is not very large, but it is a well-functioning whole. The exhibition can be explored freely, but there are also small tasks available: Little Helper's gift should be found from the story's locations: in Gyro Gearloose's workshop, in Bear Cottage, and in Uncle Scrooge's office. The exhibition space also has scattered small tasks and information about the secrets of Duckburg.

It's worth exploring the Newspaper Museum's other exhibitions too: in the printing basement at the end of spiral stairs are old printing machines and typesetting techniques, and a newspaper reading table where you can relax while browsing Donald Duck or Princess magazine. On the upper floor you'll find the history of news and information distribution, fun cartoon characters, and fascinating machines and equipment in display cases for children's eyes.

Amusing characters greet visitors at the Newspaper Museum's permanent exhibition.

The Newspaper Museum is located a couple of blocks away from Esplanade park, so it's worth stopping by during a city trip, on a rainy day, or to escape the heat (the museum is air-conditioned!). Next door to the museum you'll also find Riikhard Street Library and the library's lovely summer courtyard. Most importantly for small museum visits, the Newspaper Museum has a functional and clean children's restroom connected to the accessible restroom.

In summer 2021, the museum and especially the Donald Duck exhibition accept only a limited number of visitors, so on busy days you should be prepared for possible short waits. Advance reservations are no longer required from July onwards.
