What is Helsinki's best playground? Where can you find a playground suitable for older children? Or a playground near the city center? Helsinki has over 200 playgrounds and more than 60 play parks. But do you know where one of Helsinki's newest playgrounds is located?
Seppä Playground in Punavuori has undergone a major renovation and the yard and new playground building opened for children on August 7, 2024. Located in the shadow of Agricola Church's tall tower, the playground is an excellent addition to the play facilities in the central area. And how wonderful that the renovation preserved the playground's old and beautiful trees!

Seppä's yard is quite similar to before and nothing new and revolutionary has been done. The play equipment has been updated and the yard's profile changed perhaps even more to suit older children, even school-age children. Here you can now find a trampoline, a couple of different (and quite thrilling) carousels, games, a climbing pyramid, and many different swings.

For younger children, Seppä perhaps offers Helsinki's finest sandbox under a large oak tree as well as a rather fun mouse toy (whose intended use remains somewhat unclear) and its own climbing structure.

The yard also has animal sculptures and a small stage. The yard is completely fenced. The playground building itself was also renovated. Helsinki's playgrounds offer activities open to all on weekdays: mornings the indoor spaces are available for families with young children, afternoons they are reserved for school-age children's after-school activities. Toilets can be used throughout the playground's opening hours.

Seppä Playground's yard area is large and fenced. There's so much space that there could have been room for some truly wow-factor element, but that's missing now. Overall, however, it's quite nice and functional, and the playground is a much-needed addition to the central area.
